As reported, the first meeting of the "International Working Group on Sustainable Development in the Caspian Sea Region" was held in Baku on September 13-17. More than 50 scientists from 15 countries of the world participated in the event.
Within the framework of the meeting, scientists from Azerbaijan and foreign countries visited the Secretariat of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development. At the meeting held at the Secretariat, views were exchanged on global cooperation in achieving the goals of sustainable development, the role of scientific research in this field, as well as the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals in our country and the work done in this direction.
Huseyn Huseynov, secretary of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development, head of the Sustainable Development Department of the Ministry of Economy, emphasized that the sustainable and dynamic development of the economy directly depends on the efficiency of scientific research, and the leading role of science in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan, and the global initiative of the United Nations Organization on the Sustainable Development Goals of our country. talked about joining. It was emphasized that over the past years, Azerbaijan has achieved many goals under the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the protection of people's health, raising the level of education of the population, promoting and ensuring gender equality, and is currently successfully continuing the implementation of its duties under this initiative.
The scientists who participated in the meeting highly appreciated the work done for the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan and emphasized that they are ready to contribute to the work done in this field.
